Inline comments macro

Use the Inline comments (CommentLens) macro to place a persistent, filtered inline-comment report on a Confluence page.

  1. Edit a Confluence page.
  2. Insert Inline comments (CommentLens) from the macro menu.

  1. Configure the comment scope, filters, and table columns.
  2. Select Save, then publish or update the Confluence page.

Under Comments from, select one of these scopes:

  • Page(s): Search one or more selected pages. Enable Include descendants to include their child pages.
  • Space(s): Search every accessible page in one or more selected spaces.

Select Unresolved, Resolved, or both statuses to control which comment threads appear.

Open Advanced settings to filter by:

  • Comment creation date, including a custom date range.
  • Page labels, using Match any or Match all.
  • Comment authors.
  • Mentioned users, using Match any or Match all.
  • Words or phrases in the comment, using Match any or Match all.

Enable Include replies when matching filters when an author, mentioned-user, or text filter should also match replies in the comment thread.

Use Sort to choose newest or oldest comments first, and Results per page to show 5, 10, 15, or 25 rows.

Open Columns to show, hide, or reorder the table fields.

Commented content is always included. CommentLens may automatically add Page, Space, or Status when the selected scope would otherwise make rows ambiguous.

The rendered macro displays the configured columns and paginates the matching comments.

  • Select the highlighted Commented content to open its inline comment.
  • Attachment comments whose selected text is unavailable are identified as [Attachment].
  • A reply icon identifies a row that matched through a reply.
  • Hover over truncated values to read their full text.

To change the report later, edit the Confluence page and open the macro configuration again.
